Paul and Roland, I took photos today of the stamens, but as it keeps
raining and is blustery weather, the flowers are not showing well.

So Crocus serotinus ssp salzmanii it is.
Thank you all who made suggestions!

Ina,
It's definitely a crocus, and I'm leaning towards
Crocus serotinus ssp salzmanii. There are a few
different colour forms of it, some with the
speckling like yours has on the outer
petals. Timing is right, they're in flower here
too. A very good reliable flowerer.
I hope that is a help?
Cheers.
