Dear Jane - Interesting parallel with Tulipa sylvestris here. In shade and 'decent' (not great) soil it forms a mat of single leaves and spreads like crazy. Never blooms. Hundreds of small single grassy leaves. In hot sun it get 4-5 x larger, multiple leaves and has very nice bright yellow flowers. Spreads a bit, but under control. Sounds very similar to your situation. Want to trade weedy tulips? Best Jim W. On Apr 11, 2013, at 4:50 PM, Jane McGary wrote: > Around 15 years ago I bought 3 bulbs of Amana edulis (syn.
