Lewisia
Shoal Creek Succulents (Tue, 16 Apr 2013 03:57:54 PDT)
Thanks Leo.
I have some active flowers now, so I am going to pollinate them just for the
heck of it.
Best regards, Lisa

Dylan asked me
Can you not grow the tuberous Talinum species (caffrum, whitei,
angustifolium etc.) in Phoenix?
Yes, we can grow Anacampseros, Avonia, Grahamia, Portulaca and Talinum. It's
the lewisias that I (and others) have trouble getting through our summers.

Some of the newly acquired Lewisia are blooming; I don't know if they
require separate plants for pollination to be successful; but I'll
give it a try anyway.
All the Portulacaceae I have grown are not only self-fertile, but
self-pollinating. A few are greenhouse weeds under some circumstances. I
can't speak to Lewisia.
