My cats are heavily belled, which helps the birds, but after my favorite and very dear feline companion contracted acute toxoplasmosis from eating a foul rodent I have a different view of this issue. I do find that my feline friends do tend to knock things over more than they help, except that one is an excellent catcher and butcher of gophers. Where I currently live coyotes and bobcats do not seem to be a problem, though the place I last lived I did lose a cat to a bobcat.
