Thanks Robert, I grow Iris anguifuga, It is not that, but I have discoverd the problem. Sorry everyone, I mixed up the names in my mind. The plant I am trying to pin down is called "Georgian Delicacy" I have found a poor picture from 2010 when it first flowerd, http://flickr.com/photos/66380714@N06/… the picture does not do it justice, it came from joe Pye Weed.
