Dear Steve, When I imported from South Africa in 2003, Crinums were on a different permit from other plants with the added cost of course and so I didn't try to bring any of them in. I needed a phyto for all the bulbs I brought in. My difficulty was I didn't know which bulbs would be available in South Africa when I applied for the permit and so I had to fill it in as wish list and then fax the paperwork back to Australia when I did know. When I arrived in Australia I cleared quarantine in Melbourne and they would not let me bring the bulbs to Brisbane on a domestic flight because it was a weekend! I then had the extra expense of finding a carrier who would transport "quarantinable goods" from Melbourne to Brisbane and quarantine would not recommend anyone so after many phone calls to find a courier my bulbs finally arrived in Brisbane about a week later. The lesson here of course is for me to always clear quarantine in Brisbane preferably not on a weekend.
