You are so fortunate. But we have sunbirds in South Africa which have glorious neon colors. They love the nectar of most flowers, particularly hibiscuses. I still have to work out when they visit as it seems to be somewhat seasonal and I have moved to a new town and a garden that needs more bird attracting shrubs. ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Hayek To: Pacific Bulb Society Sent: Sunday, August 21, 2005 5:53 AM Subject: Re: [pbs] Birds/oops **OOps sorry about the no-message message. I watched Hummingbirds in one flower bed while I was working today. They went to my Crocosmias, my Daylilies, the Cannas, and my species Fuchsias. I didn't see any around the Impatiens balfouri or the Abutilons, but I may have missed them. We have dozens of Hummingbirds. I have to duck at times, they go for my hat. >Here in coastal Northern California, Anna's Hummingbirds are year round >residents and Allen's Hummingbirds are seasonal visitors.
