Herbertia and Calydorea

It seems many 
tigridioids are edible (as crocuses are) and Herbertia lahue is much 
exploited in its native Chile for the same purpose and use and is becoming 
very rare.

Yes, they eat the Herbertia lahue here. And Calydorea xiphioides is also edible. Both of them are almost extinct :---( due to causes like this... 

Perhaps people do that when they get angry (not hungry) because the flowers only last one day... :-)
