The USDA zones are better than nothing, just.
I have always wondered why zones were not
coordinated with our Zip Codes, such would be
far more accurate.
I think the zones were developed long before Zip codes.
Almost all generalist plant catalogs print your USDA zone on your
address label, which they derive from your Zip code.
