In regard to the old orange hippeastrum garden plant I described, Carolyn asked 'Does it self-sow?' --Not really, but the seed is fertile and plants grow readily in pans of good soil. The old fashioned red-orange bulbs I have from another unknown source do self-sow in the area around the plants, especially if weeds are keeping the surface nicely moist during crucial germination time. I will send an image of this one tomorrow. Seed is quite uniform, but it is not really the same as the supposed H. equestere we were discussing. Cynthia W. Mueller College Station, Tx Zone 8b-9 P.S. I have many, many seedlings in bud for the first time this week. Will send images for the amaryllisly inclined among us.
