I sat out in the garden this evening until a bit after 10 P.M. waiting to greet the arriving spring. There is a flood light over a little sitting area - it's a great place to read. The snowdrops shine brightly in the light. Already the garden is beginning to show a thin veil of green. Sometimes when I sit out on late winter evenings like this I can hear the wood frogs moving through the leaves as they make their way to the pond. But tonight all of the ground sounds were coming from racoons. For awhile "our" screech owl kept me company with his soft trill. And there was excitement in the sky: the sky tonight is full of noisy migrating geese. What a sound! Jim McKenney jimmckenney@starpower.net Montgomery County, Maryland zone 7
