Bulbs for Continental Climates: Upper Midwest

Jim speaks of his great success with Triteleia laxa 'Queen Fabiola' in
the
Indianapolis area. I live in virtually the same climate. I bought
about
fifty bulbs of Triteleia laxa 'Queen Fabiola' in 2001 from two
different
(Dutch) sources. I planted them in rich, well drained loam soil. In
the
spring about two or three weak sprouts emerged, I had no flowering and
nothing appeared the next year. I can't imagine why my results were so
different from Jim's.
In the UK on my poor dry chalky soil they thrive in full sun. Are you
giving them too rich a diet maybe, couple with the cold?
