growing species tulips from seed

It is probably best to sow them warm in late summer, then chill the pots
after 4 weeks, while they are still damp.

I tried to find on the Wiki about growing species tulip seed. But
getting a bit lost.

I have 4 lots of tulip seed in the fridge at the moment. They have had
about 4 weeks so far. How long do they need to be chilled before sowing
them? Of course this is in a mild climate.
