Dear bulbophiles, Early summer in CA is a nice time to see all sorts of geophytic plants blooming, particularly the Calochortus and themids. I have uploaded some photos of Calochortus luteus growing and contrasting against a beautiful dark form of Triteleia laxa. Have a look: http://flickr.com/photos/xerantheum/… Also, on Ring Mountain in Marin County, Calochortus tiburonensis bloomed nicely (although by this point all have faded). There were not as many blooming plants this year as last year and I suspect that invasive grasses had an edge due to the high amount of rainfall. http://flickr.com/photos/xerantheum/… Nhu Berkeley, CA -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/xerantheum/
