Ginger - Zingiber - also Cautleya
James Waddick (Thu, 01 Jul 2010 07:49:28 PDT)
Hello Mr Waddick and all fellow "miogaphiles",
Some people recommend Cautleya spicata for growing outside in our zone too.
Dear Mark and all,
This reminds me of other tries and losses: Hedychium never
did well in pots for me and died in the ground. Tried 3 or 4 sorts.
Roscoea - can't tell how many of these I've grown from seed
or plants and killed. Nothing even close although I have seen them
growing lushly in just slightly warmer climates.
Never tried Cautleya, but would appreciate experience from
other growers. Googling suggests Zone 7 and warmer.
Anyone grow it in colder climates. Best
Jim W.
