Haemanthus Season Is Underway
J.E. Shields (Thu, 26 Aug 2010 15:03:42 PDT)
In the greenhouse, some of the Haemanthus barkerae are blooming, as well as
a couple H. pubescens pubescens. There is a bud on the H. dasyphyllus and
on one of the H. coccineus. Another coccineus is in full bloom, with very
curious -- and quite attractive -- bicolor (red and white) bracts.
Pictures will eventually appear in my blog,

The Lycoris have mostly faded except for one clump of L. caldwellii. Bloom
is a bit spotty; what with the extend hot, dry weather we have been
having, perhaps not surprising.
