Finally I got an Amaryllis belladonna to bloom in my Chappaqua school garden in a protected position against a wall--so it can be done! I also have tons of Crocosmia aurea in flower at home and at school, its a pretty plant and flowers for quite a long time. I've posted and pictured about both in my most recent blog posts. In one of the pics of the crocosmia, Zephyranthus candida and Seemannia nematanthodes "Evita" can also be seen in bloom (click on the photo to enlarge it), this area along the wall recieves and retains a bit more moisture than the area where the amaryllis is planted.
