Hi, everybody. I would have liked to have avoided the last several days' weather if I could have. Our area of northwest Arkansas got about 1/2" of ice, maybe more. Limbs and even trees are down all over the area. We were without electricity for 31 hours from Sunday evening, 7:30 PM, to early Tuesday morning, 2:30 AM. Temps didn't drop down into the low twenties until mid- late morning on Tuesday, but were down to 15 or so by the time the electricity came back up. Tuesday, about 7PM, I brought in a bunch of potted stock that had been under a plastic tent normally heated with a space heater. By that time, it was obvious some amaryllids and Arum had foliar damage/death. All in all, though, most plants still have some tops, and I'm sure all underground storage organs are fine. I'm not sure what 8 more hours would have done to the amaryllids, especially. It was supposed to get down to about 5°F last night, but only got down to 13-14°. Overall, we faired much better than many. Even two of our aquarium fish (out of 6) survived. Presently Warm & Snuggly, Mr. Kelly M.
