Help needed for Hippeastrum book

This is probably my typical attempt to be helpful without really knowing what’s going on, but with Photoshop CC you can resize pictures for use in a magazine in a minute or two.
If you look at the picture on page 70 of the Winter 2017/18 issue of the Rock Garden Quarterly, this was originally a 77 (seventy-seven) Kb file (taken with an Olympus 2.2 MP camera), and resized to about 1.1 Mb. It’s not entirely perfect by any means, but it came out presentably.
