I don't know how I forgot to mention it but the Crinum bulbispermum are in full glorious flower right now, some with three stalks coming out from some of the seed grown bulbs. They get better every year and sailed through this past winter even without protection in most cases. I do not see differences in hardiness between the USA bred ones and ones from S African seed (ex Kimberly). The former tend to offset faster with the latter doing so slowly or only after some kind of injury when I try and move big ones (an ordeal). Other crinums put in the ground and protected also came through, including Carolina White, and Amercinum and Super Ellen, but the latter was slower to come back this year but is fine now. Deep planting and protection when young seems to help for the C bulbispermum, I dont dare not protect the others until I know more or have more.
