If the seed sowing goes well you may want to consider leaving a few outside. For at least the last five years mirabilis longiflora has overwintered on a sloped yet poorly draining(heavy loam) spot in the open garden. Winter lows here have been down to -10F, which appears to be too cold for the nearby Musa basjoo(which had been protected), yet I see Mirabilis sprouts up and growing.
