Hardiness of Pinellia cordata
Tony Avent (Sun, 07 Jun 2009 07:15:11 PDT)

Jim, others:

I tried for years and had no luck with Pinellia cordata, killing more
than I'd like to admit. After giving up, I saw it in a couple of gardens
where it was growing in much more moist soils that I had tried. I tried
it again and my current clump has been growing for 13 years. Our plants
are growing in shade and moist, very well drained soils.

I’ve had several accessions of Pinellia cordata over the years; none has
lasted more than two years in the garden.

Yet the pots thick with foliage that I occasionally see in the local garden
centers say that someone knows how to grow them.
