Hippeastrum calyptratum

Dear Uli,

>snip..I suspect that my plant will be self sterile.

Back a number of years ago, I had a H. calytratum. It was not
self-sterile and did produce viable seeds. I have 7 current year
germinations from seed gotten from John Ingram. Initially, I was concerned
that the seeds were too old but like many worries, it did not occur.
While it is too late now to collect pollen, the way to collect is
to snip off the anthers once they open and store in seed envelop. Then
place in film cannister and freeze.

Kind regards, Joyce Miller
