Lyn, Mount Hood has performed well for me in Ohio for the last 4 years. They are planted in various locations, sun, shade, open beds, under a trimmed boxwood hedge, around the base of small (i.e. non shade providing) trees. All locations do wonderful each year. They do produce a lot more foliage than flowers but each clump is well covered with blooms. But, they are also in a much colder area than you are in and pretty much get the summer heat. They don't dry out too much in any of the locations.
