In my Googling to try and find information about Cyanastrum for the wiki, I kept seeing that some sources listed it as being part of Tecophilaeacea. So maybe it was split off from that family at some point fairly recently? To me the plant and flowering scape don't remind me at all of Tecophilaeas.
