The seeds inside tomatoes are usually kept from sprouting because tomatoes are acid. I have found that yellow greenhouse-grown tomatoes must be less acid, because the seeds often sprout inside the tomato. The skin gets all bumpy, and when I cut the tomato open, there are lots of little plants. I haven't tried growing them. I haven't noticed this happening with the red or orange greenhouse tomatoes, or with the big ones. Just the smaller ones sold on the vine. -- Diane Whitehead Victoria, British Columbia, Canada maritime zone 8 cool mediterranean climate (dry summer, rainy winter - 68 cm annually) sandy soil
