Dear Pacific Bulb Society members, You don’t know me but I’m a friend of Alani Davis and his wife, Sharon Cummings. My name is Heather Rubino. Alani Davis is a member of your organization. They need help, and a lot of it. I don’t know if you’ve heard the latest news on Sharon, but here goes: She was found unconscious in her office on Valentine’s Day, and is currently being treated in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at our local hospital. She’s been in the hospital for over a week now. Sharon’s medical coverage is spotty at best. To that end, there are efforts afoot to raise funds for her and Alani. If you would like to donate directly to these efforts, you can do so at Sharon’s GoFundMe site: http://www.gofundme.com/sharoncummings/ If you are unable to contribute monetarily but would still like to contribute, we are also holding a silent auction fundraiser on March 30th, 2013 (100% of the proceeds will go to Alani and Sharon). Alani and Sharon dedicate their life to the care of plants; she’s a wildlife biologist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and he’s a botanist for Ecological Wildlife Consultants. We are aiming to include plants and bulbs for auction. Any donations to that goal would be greatly appreciated. You can also check on Sharon’s progress by visiting: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sharoncummings/. You will need to log in by entering an email and password and can then search for Sharon Cummings to find news and updates on her condition. Many thanks for all efforts made on Alani and Sharon’s behalf. If you have any specific questions you may contact friendsofsharoncummings@gmail.com. All help is needed, welcome and valued. sincerely, Heather Rubino heather.anne.rubino@gmail.com
