Yes, I do similar with a runaway ground cover at my place. Glove and a kitchen spray bottle with concentrated roundup, doling a tiny spritz at a time. When I was landscaping I discovered english ivy was not harmed by 1% roundup and was able to overspray. Once cleaned up there are some very good preemergent herbicides if you are so inclined.
