The Scadoxus puniceus in the greenhouse are starting to bloom. They seem to be as reliable as clockwork. Some send the scape up with the leaves, others send up the bare scape and wait till later for the leaves. Scadoxus puniceus seems to have a very wide range -- South Africa to at least East Africa -- so I would expect some variability. I have not seen any of the plants of puniceus from East Africa. The Lachenalia there have been blooming awhile, but after a couple of very bright, sunny days (hot greenhouse!) and one very cold night (frosty in the greenhouse) most of them are looking pretty scraggly. One variegate leaf hybrid Lachenalia from a nursery in South Africa is looking quite good. At the moment the only picture of it is at: http://srgc.net/forum/index.php/… Jim Shields in chilly, rainy central Indiana ************************************************* Jim Shields USDA Zone 5 P.O.
