Here in Central Texas we've had only two frosts so far - some of my cannas and crinums are still green. But, larger frogs - not peepers or tree frogs - never seemed to go to sleep this winter and now it's spring, with Louisiana iris in full bloom, for instance. Normally last freeze should be about March 10. As I walk toward the creek the frogs yelp, and there is a corresponding splash in the water.
