Scilla maderensis

I was just doing a search for seeds of scilla maderensis when this message
arrived. a firm was offering some last year at a price. The bulbs grow on
the surface. I believe there are two or three similar Scillas, they are not
supposed to like frost at all and resent deep planting. I have seen them at
Edinburgh Botanics, and one at Abbey Brook cactus nursery England, and
maderensis this spring at Kew.

I raised this species from (few) seeds I got a couple of years ago, the
germination was easy but the seedlings aren't at all hardy. They were burnt
at 0°C (32F) and reovered slowly. I don't think even mature bulbs can be
hardy more than a light frost
