Asphodelus albus looks interesting, how exactly is it messy? I find
that almost all of the bulbs I have in the ground look messy when
their leaves are drying out before they go back to being dormant.
It's not just the copious foliage drying out that looks unsightly,
but also the flowers open in sequence on the tall stem, so you have
a scruffy part toward the end of the flowering.
