Los Gatos where Carolyn lives hardly gets any frost, what do you know

It means it is a plant that will respond to increasingly short
days (like in autumn or early winter) by producing flowers. It is not a
plant for shady places. It is not a plant from hot regions, rather from the
cool Andes. If you grow it in a big container this can be moved to a
protected spot so you can see flowers and early frosts will not cut them.
