Jim, this is good advice. I too had a couple of years of Latin at school and could repeat whole versus in Latin. However, when you come across plant names like Clivia where I've heard it pronounced so many different ways, you eventually ignore who's right and wrong and do your own thing. Anyway, as a born and bred Queenslander, I've always pronounced lots of words different to my comrades where I live now in the state of Victoria. Us foreigners always speak funny.
