I use a two fixture with four LED tubes in each one. I have a Sun System Sun Blaze with 40 watt Agromax T5 bulbs The fixtures are 18-20 inches above the bench. Some of the Gladiolus get very close to the lights but so far I haven't seen any damage from the heat So many retails out there thanks to the recreational growers of weed Arnold -----Original Message----- From: Ravi Kaza via pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> To: pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Cc: Ravi Kaza <ravirkaza@aol.com> Sent: Thu, Feb 24, 2022 6:46 pm Subject: Re: [pbs] Supplemental winter lights Which system are you using ? -----Original Message----- From: Kenneth Preteroti via pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> To: Pacific Bulb Society <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Cc: Kenneth Preteroti <k.preteroti@verizon.net> Sent: Thu, Feb 24, 2022 5:16 pm Subject: Re: [pbs] Supplemental winter lights I would like to thank everyone who responded. Would Supplemental Lighting be worthy of placement in the wiki? I summarize what I am doing and plan to do in the future. I am using LED lights. The system covers a 4’x5’ area with 6 arms. I separated the arms and light a 2’x9’ area. The lights draw 2.7 amps, 325 watts. Supposedly equivalent to a 1000 watt metal halide light. I believe LED’s put out twice the light per watt as a T5HO fluorescent. I plan to have the lights on from dawn to dusk, 10-12 hours a day from the beginning of October till the end of March. LED’s put out little heat and I doubt they create a problem. Metal halide(MH) and high pressure sodium(HPS) lights are hot and can burn plants. The current issue with my greenhouse temperatures as it relates to winter growers is it easily get to 80 degrees. Passive ventilation helps as does opening a door.
