Spring Flowers

Jim,

Great to hear you talk about "patches" of T. nivale. My little plant
(2 eyes, 2 flowers) takes hope. It survived in a pot and I need to
find a deer-safe place for it.

It's a beautiful spring day in Indiana! There are more flowers
blooming
outdoors every day, it seems. We have numerous Iris reticulata
cultivars
ion bloom, including 'Gordon', 'Pauline', and 'Pixie'.

One accession of Trillium nivale is blooming in several patches.
Only one
of the patches suffered chomping by something (snails?) under the
winter
cover of dead leaves.

The first Narcissus of the season is in bloom since yesterday,
probably
Rijnveld's Early Sensation. There is a form of Crocus coming up in
scattered places where I did not plant them.

Corydalis angustifolia seedlings are up and in bloom in many places
in the
bed where I originally planted C. angustifolium 'Georgian White'.
This
species seems to be self-fertile.

My two shoots of Colchicum (Bulbocodium) vernum are in flower. The
buds
were snow white but they opened the proper pink color.

There are still lots of spring flowers yet to appear.
