Scilla greilhuberi, one of the squills with winter foliage, is now blooming in my protected cold frame. This is the third season for this species here, and the bulb has not yet divided. I would like to try it in the open garden, but I don’t want to lose my entire stock. Has anyone else tried this outside in a zone 7 or colder location? I’ve asked this in the past and don’t remember getting a clear answer. Because the protected cold frame get very crowded, I sometimes move plants to less protected cold frames. I did that last year with Scilla mauretanica, another squill with winter foliage. This was a mistake: the foliage melted in late February. I have not yet checked the bulb.
