Spring has sprung here, too. What was exciting was our secret meadow of native Fritillaria biflora. My daughter and I took the back way to our class today, and found the blooms in this intriguing colony. No water during summer, baking rocky red clay most of the year, and there were at least a couple of hundred plants at their peak of bloom! Shiny chocolate colored blooms about 6-8 inches tall. Woo-Hoo!!! Marguerite
