Dell and all, The time of flowering depends much on the size of the corms and its region of origin. Dutch grown corms flower about 10 days later than, equivalent south grown stock. I kept some exyra large corms (11cm+ circ = 30-36mm diam = 1,5) which started flowering here on the 19/10. Anything under 8c mcirc (diam 25mm = 1") flowers only 50% around 5-10/11. Average planting depth is around 15cm (6") plus a good layer of straw mulch. Most of the flowering size is sold, but I still harvest flowers every two days. The important trick is to dry them quickly, but without burning them. I heat up a pan on the gaz, turn it off and introduce the stigmatas, while stirring until they are brittle.
