Hi, I'm a new member to the PBS, name is Linda Foulis. I reside in Okotoks, AB, Canada. We are zone 3a. We're lucky if we get 112 frost free days here in the foothills of the Rockies. I depend a lot on creating microclimates in the yard, and of course bring all of my tender bulbs and plants in for the winter. Angela can we trade climates for a while? I can't even begin to tell you how many peonies I dug out and tossed in the compost in our new yard. I've been through a winter where it was -54 for 3 days. Tulips, allium, fritillaria, arum, daffodils, crocus and so on all do really well here. I've put off joining the club prior to this as I didn't want to tempt myself, having serious plant collections in a rental can be difficult. So far I've limited myself to hippeastrums, plus some cross pollinating, sprekelia, albuca, plus an amazon lily (?). Finding interesting plant matter here is difficult and I order seeds in mostly from overseas. For you hippeastrum breeders, how long does it take under optimal conditions for a seed to grow big enough to bloom? Linda Foulis Okotoks, AB Canada 3C tonight
