strange Iris

Crocus (Iridaceae) also can appear with extra segments in one year, but
the characteristic rarely persists in subsequent years.

Irises of all kinds will occasionally bloom with extra or missing flower parts. It seems to correlate with unusual weather, but I've not heard a good explanation.
