There are probably THOUSANDS of Narcissus 'Foundling'. Only two will
flower because they have split and multiplied into tiny offsets. This
morning I used a spading fork to dig perhaps 20%. Potted up close to 100
of the larger bulbs. Now need to harden my heart and toss the remainder
in the compost heap. I plan to use a liquid fertilizer until they go
dormant, then replant somewhere else.
But I'm having a hard time tossing away the smaller than baby pea sized
bulbs. There are simply too, too many of them.
Let's see if I dig another 20% this year. And then next year. And the
year after that.
Judy in New Jersey where we have a freeze warning for tonight. The
forecast is for 31 degrees Fahrenheit. Piffle! That's not a worry. And
anyway, frost free around here is after Mother's Day.

Judy -Could you send some of the larger N. ?Foundling' to the bulb
exchange?
Does anyone have advice on how to get Narcissus?Canaliculatus? to flower?
I live in zone 8 in California where the summers are sunny and very hot.
I?ve stuck some of them out where they will really bake. I probably
should send them in to the bulb exchange myself!

Right now the daffodils are in active growth, leaves and roots. I heave
them out of the soil with a spading fork, in clumps of intertwined
bulbs, leaves, roots, soil. They wouldn't "do" if washed free of soil
and mailed off to Lumita for next BX. I'm not even sure if the ones I
potted up will be of flowering size next year.

Hi Fred, and thanks for the offer.? I hope I'm not too late.
? I'm not great with this genus, but I am gaining ground.? They're too
lovely
not to learn to grow.
? Bulb flies are /not/ my friends; however, I managed to save parts of
most of
the Phaedranassa plants infected (no flowers this year).? Thank goodness
for
offsets and seeds.
Take care,

Hello everyone,
As this season everything is so late in Germany, the Narcissus high season
just started.
I made a tour with most of the one currently in bloom, hope you like it. I
was nervous, so I did twist a few names, sorry for that.
Anyone else here that loves to grow Narcissus?
Cheers,
Vlad
