In the late 90’s I was given a bulb but I have forgotten its source. This was when we were living in the small town of Avondale, PA. I put it in a 1 gallon pot and proceeded to water and grow it for 2-3 years back there. We moved to Santa Barbara in 2001 and brought the bulb along (with 22 plant boxes of other stuff) but even here it would grow, drop leaves grow again in an seemingly endless cycle. Greg DeChirico correctly identified it as an Ammocharis but the species remained a mystery. I finally planted it 2 years ago and it continued to behave weirdly until this winter when it retained its leaves. Leo and behold I glanced outside this morning and saw it was coming into flower! Appears to be a coranica.
