Tim, I have been told by several botanists that the microwave treatment kills the "killed" pollen's chemicals stimulates the receptor flower to allow pollination by its own pollen. Karl King wrote,"It has been found --sometimes-- that "killed" pollen may germinate (pollen tube emerges) but cannot cause fertilization." I have had others, but cannot put my "fingers" on them right now. I do know that the leaves are very "fine" which is unlike S. formosissima. Perhaps only time will tell. Doug
