Thank you for the contribution. I think it will be best to continue
calling this species D imperialis util somebody can prove the difference.

John Bryan's "Bulbs" gives D. arborescens as a synonym
of D. imperialis
Gareth Rowlands "Gardner's Guide to Growing Dahlias"
doesn't list D. arborescens at all.
