hi, i use aluminm cans. with a small bladed knife, cut off the bottom first, then the top. with sissors, trim the roughness from the knife cuts. then cut to the desired width with the sissors. with a pencil writing on something with a little give, write your label with a little pressure. then fold over the two corners on the end like an arrow. i use these for potted plants as well. for shrubs, trees, etc, a 12" +/_ piece of aluminm wire punched through the pointed end and twisted around itself makes a 'stake'. or wrap around a trunk / limb losely. not perfect, but a low cost solution lamon in very mild (till late week) sw georgia > I don't go barefoot--so that's not a problem.
