weather and blooming now

While surveying the damage from winds and rain (> 2" in 12 hours ... a LOT ... for San Diego !) I discovered this Haemanthus deformis blooming its wet little heart out on the muddy backyard hillside:

While the rain is welcome in drought-plagued Southern California ... we would rather it spread itself over a few days than coming down all a once.
