I saw Zantedeschia odorata flowering on Glenlyon Farm at Nieuwoudtville in late August 2004, but don't recall the fragrance - so perhaps it isn't very evident. What was interesting was that it grew only tightly wedged between dolerite rocks: Neil McGregor, the owner, informed us that this was because otherwise the porcupines would eat the tubers. I've had a plant for years (grown from Silverhill seed) but it hasn't flowered. It is very definitely a winter-grower. John Grimshaw Dr John M.
