Growing Gladiolus flanaganii

I can only share my experience from Ireland. I grew it frm seed
(Silverhill, in So Africa). Planted in well-drained, gritty soil in the
garden where it pretty much just took care of itself, multiplied and
bloomed.

Ireland is WET, although in summers there can be a week or so at a stretch
where it approaches T-shirt weather with sun. (Hint, Ireland is the only
place I've lived where the weather forcast might predict "widely scattered
sun", or "patches of sunlight". It's also morbidly obsessed with its
miserable climate, devoting good portions of the weather report to
reviewiing what happened during the day, rather than what to expect later
on). Temperature ranges in Ireland are also quite mild compared to many
other places. If you check out Dublin on a weather channel, you'll note
it's very consistent over long stretches of time.

At any rate, maybe the combination of rapid drainage and consistent
moisture helped.
