Washed coarse sand in Seattle?

Rick Lupp of Mt. Tahoma Nursery near Mt. Rainier used to get a very good
grade of washed sand, in which he grows hundreds of choice alpines. The
only email address I have for him is rlupp@aol.com, btu perhaps someone
in the Seattle NARGS chapter has a more recent one.

Have you tried Salmon Bay Sand and Gravel, in Ballard? I don't know if
they have exactly what you are seeking, but they're worth a try.
I start nearly everything in peat and pumice, equally mixed. Bulk pumice
is available at the Maltby branch of Pacific Topsoils. They may also be a
good sand source.
